Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Mental Health service provides a range of mental health services to meet the mental health needs of the adult population the Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai local government areas. We provide mental health assessments, community and inpatient treatment. The service priority is treating people who are seriously affected by a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Who are we?

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Mental Health Service. This includes the Lindsay Madew Unit, on the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital campus.

What do we do?

Services include:

  • An inpatient treatment service with 25 beds
  • A crisis intervention service available 24 hours per day which assesses and treats people living in the area who are experiencing a mental health crisis
  • An adult community mental health service providing assessment, treatment and consultation services for people seriously affected by a mental illness
  • An aged care mental health service providing assessment, treatment and consultation services for older people seriously affected by a mental illness
  • A specialist program for young people with psychosis (Early Psychosis Intervention Service, also known as EPIS)
  • A range of mental health rehabilitation services
  • Accommodation (group homes) for people seriously affected by mental illness and accommodation problems

If you have not contacted the mental health service before, you can call to get help for yourself or someone you know or to get more information about mental health services.

Ring 9477 9520 and ask for the intake team.

The intake person will ask you a range of questions about the mental health problem to clarify how best to help you.
