The Equipment Loan Pool lends appropriate aids to individuals in the community, to enhance their level of
independence. Loans are on a short-term basis (up to 3 months). There is a small fee and a refundable deposit attached to hiring the equipment from the pool.
 Who are we?
The Equipment Loan Pool, formerly known as the Community Equipment Service. Our service lends appropriate aids to individuals in the community, to enhance their level of
independence, on a short-term basis. This may be for up to 3 months. In addition the following programs, previously available through Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, can be accessed as
follows:
- PADP ( Programme of Aids for Disabled People): where aids are required on a long-term basis. There are specific criteria to be met and you can get that
information from the prescribing health professional or by phoning Manly Hospital on 9976 9963.
- Respite Carers: equipment for carers (for example, short term loans of hoists and beds): contact Manly Hospital on 9976 9963
- Respiratory appliances (for example, oxygen & CPAPs): contact Gosford Hospital on phone 4336 8823
What do we do?
The Equipment Loan Pool lends appropriate aids to individuals in the community to enhance their
level of independence on a short-term basis. We will ensure that the equipment that has been prescribed specifically for you by a health
professional, is clean and in good working order. Please phone 9477 9606 in advance to confirm that we have received your written referral and that we have the equipment available.
We ask that you provide transport to return
equipment to the pool when you no longer require it. Under some circumstances – such as large or
heavy equipment- we will assist with arranging for it to be picked up.
How you can access our service
If you require equipment on discharge from hospital then an Occupational Therapist or a
Physiotherapist will arrange for the equipment to be available to you.
You do need a written referral from a health professional in order to use our

Where you can find us
The Service is located at 103 Burdett Street, on the southern side of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai
Hospital campus. The office is well sign-posted from the street and parking is available outside.
What are our hours?
We are open to the public, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 12.30pm. These are the hours in which you may pick up or return equipment.
If you have general enquiries you may ring us between the hours of 8.30am and 2pm.
