NSW Health Announces Record Redevelopment of $736 million Royal North Shore Hospital - one step closer

Tuesday 3 June, 2008

Health Infrastructure has today announced another milestone in the tendering of contracts for the $736 million redevelopment of Royal North Shore Hospital with the shortlist of tenderers now down to two.

Chief Executive of Health infrastructure Mr Robert Rust said that after a detailed evaluation process, Health Infrastructure has recommended to Government that it proceed to the next stage of the selection process with two tenderers being:

  • InfraShore Partnership (ABN AMRO, Thiess Contractors, Thiess Services, ISS Facility Services and Wilson Parking) and
  • Pinnacle Health Care (Babcock & Brown, Bovis Lend Lease, Spotless and Interpark).

"The third proponent - Plenary Health (Plenary Group, Deutsche Bank, Laing O'Rourke, Honeywell, Medirest and Premier Parking), has been advised that it has been unsuccessful," said Mr Rust.

"This is an important stage in the $736 million redevelopment as we get closer to deciding on who will work with us on the biggest health Public Private Partnership (PPP) project ever carried out in NSW," Mr Rust said.

"The three shortlisted bidders were announced in late 2006, and considerable work has gone into developing high quality plans to reflect the full scope of this capital works project.

"Preparatory works continue on the site and the new $99 million Research and Education building which is ancillary to the redevelopment, is on schedule for full completion by late 2008. This project was awarded to Bovis Lend Lease in December 2006."

The anticipated date for the announcement of the new hospital and community health contract will be later this year.
