Breastfeeding facilities in the new hospitalLast updated 25 June 2007 Will there be breastfeeding facilities in the new hospital? Yes. The new buildings will include breastfeeding facilities designed meet our commitment to supporting staff and patients who choose to breastfeed. In the new buildings, parenting rooms will be located:
- In the main entry area of the new main hospital building
- In the Emergency Department
- In the main entry area of the community health services building
- On the child and family floor of the new community health services building.
| Parenting rooms generally include a comfortable chair/lounge for feeding, baby changing and handwashing facilities, and waste disposal. Bottle-warming facilities have also been recommended. Where possible, parenting rooms will be located next to disabled toilet facilities. Parenting room facilities are intended to be shared by staff, patients and visitors. Both disabled toilets and parenting rooms are accessible for prams. Disabled toilets throughout the new buildings will have baby change facilities, and there are disabled toilets on every floor of the new main hospital building.
