Central Coast Support Groups & Services Directory
As a result of an extensive consultative process the Consumer & Community Participation Unit and Carer Support (NSCCH) have relaunched the Central Coast Support Groups & Services Directory. Research and consultation by the two AHS units found that Carers and the wider community advocate the following :
| |
- Ownership of information – rather than others being the ‘keeper of information"
|
| |
- Carers and the wider community need access to information 24 hours a day,
|
| |
- Carers, consumers and patients DON’T as a rule enjoy asking for help,
|
| |
- Many people don’t necessarily know what to ask for or what is available – instead they may wish to browse information to develop their knowledge and understanding of the possibilities – without asking,
|
| |
- Support Group convenors need support and assistance to recruit & maintain membership.
|
The Directory provides practical up-to-date and comprehensive information about local Support Groups, health services and community based support organisations.
The resource provides the information that meets the expressed needs of Carers, consumers and community based organisations.
The Central Coast Support Groups & Services Directory lists details of over 90 health support groups that exist on the Central Coast plus health related services and other community-based supports.
Carers, consumers, community members, health professionals, GPs and practice managers can access the Directory to make contact with a comprehensive list of support groups and services.
