Wyong Mental Health Centre – a Visual Tour

Wyong Mental Health Centre is a 50-bed state-of-the-art facility located at Wyong Hospital. Its co-location with other essential hospital services is vital in providing a total care plan for patients. When fully operational the Centre will triple the number of mental health beds available on the Central Coast.

Within the Centre there are three specialist patient care areas:-

  • 15 bed Older Person unit
  • 25 bed Adult acute mental health unit
  • 10 bed High-level observation unit

Wyong Mental Health Centre will open in stages commencing with ten Older Persons mental health beds in the dedicated Older Persons unit.

This selection of images provides a glimpse into the new Wyong Mental Health Centre.

Welcome to Wyong Mental Health Centre

Older Persons unit (Miri Miri)

The Older Persons unit is a dedicated 15-bed unit for the older patient with a mental illness. With its own dining/lounge area and courtyard the unit provides a welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

Individual patient rooms feature historical photos from the local area and a separate music room provides a creative outlet for patients.

A special feature of Miri Miri is a double room to allow for the spouse or relative of a patient with mental illness to remain with them where such support is deemed to be an important part of the treatment plan.
Adult Acute unit (Tamarind)

The Adult Acute mental health unit provides 25 beds for adults with a mental illness. Individual patient rooms provide a place for quiet reflection whilst the dining/lounge area and courtyard can be areas for social interaction.

Individual patient rooms feature images that capture the natural beauty of the Central Coast. Patients can play pool in the special pool room or have a game of basketball in the courtyard. A water feature complements the landscaped courtyard to provide a soothing environment for patients and visitors.
High-Level Observation unit (Gunyah)

The High-Level Observation unit is a 10-bed unit providing care for those patients with a mental illness that require 24 hour observation. The unit features two lounge areas, individual patient rooms and a landscaped courtyard with a special water feature.
