The Nursing Development Unit – Education of Central Coast
Health believes that teaching should take place in a nurturing
and caring environment with creativity and flexibility utilising
a variety of teaching and learning strategies. We acknowledge that
individuals need to be active participants in the learning process.
As educators we have a commitment to the process of enquiry as
well as the transmission of information.
Education is a dynamic and life long process, therefore we
believe in the continual professional development of the nurse,
midwife and the disciplines of nursing and midwifery.
The scope and nature of education encompasses teaching and developing,
refining, changing and expanding nursing knowledge. This is achieved
through disciplined inquiry, exploring and creating systems of
ideas and values through critical analysis.
The essence of nursing and midwifery education is to meet the
learning needs of nurses and midwives at all levels and disciplines
to enable the provision of high standards of nursing and midwifery
care that contribute to the health of the community whilst striving
to remain cost effective.
