The Central Coast is the area of
NSW between Sydney and Newcastle. It contains many beautiful beaches,
lakes, rainforests, and spectacular views: all the beauty of one
of NSW’s top tourist destinations plus the comforts of a
major metropolitan area. It is within easy reach of Sydney both
by expressway
and air-conditioned train. To the upper north shore of Sydney the
trip by expressway takes half an hour. For a more leisurely trip
one can take the ferry to the northern beaches of Sydney.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
All Central Coast Health staff can take advantage of the tennis
court, swimming pool and gymnasium located at Gosford Hospital.
In addition, Gosford Hospital features a cafe, florist, kiosk,
staff cafeteria, chapel and new library, and is located only a
few minutes walk from the Gosford CBD. Other sites also provide
a number of amenities for staff.
Both Gosford and Wyong hospitals - the main places where hospital
salaried doctors work - are still small enough for people to know
one another, care about one another and a good spirit prevails.
SHOPPING AND RESTAURANTS
The Central Coast is well served by a number of shopping centres
including two major shopping centres, one at Erina and one at Tuggerah.
In addition you can browse in antique shops, buy your fruit and
vegetables at roadside stalls, or visit one of the weekend markets
to find
a bargain.
All styles of cuisine are represented in the many restaurants
in the area, from Tepanyaki to Thai, Australian to Italian, Indian
to Seafood and Vegetarian, and many more. Alternatively there are
dozens of cafes offering leisurely Sunday morning breakfasts, creative
lunches, delicious dinners or coffee and cake after a movie. We
also have many clubs and pubs with great restaurants and bistro
style meals.
The cosmopolitan city of Sydney is also on your doorstep for those
'big city' delights.
The lifestyle can be what you want it to be - relaxing, sporty,
social. The area lends itself to a relaxed lifestyle away from
the constant buzz of a major city. You can enjoy lazy days beach
side or picnicking in the national parks and rainforests. We have
modern
cinema complexes and for the more culturally minded, a historic
art-house theatre at Avoca Beach, a theatre for live performing
arts as well as art galleries.
There are many sporting facilities including, sailing, surfing,
boating, tennis, beach volleyball, football, horse riding, bushwalking,
golf - you name it! We also have two racecourses with regular meetings,
and a sports stadium hosting many sporting and other events.
